Our 2024/2025 season continues the orchestra's tradition of mixing the familiar with works and composers that should be better known.
We open with George Gershwin's orchestral masterpiece, An American in Paris and Mendelssohn's Violin Concerto in E minor with the fabulous Tai Murray as soloist. We are proud to introduce the music of African-American composer, James P. Johnson. King of Ragtime and stride piano, Johnson's Charleston and Harlem Symphony evoke the spirit of the 1920s and the explosion of the blues and jazz music that Gershwin could not resist.
